Swap Shops

The next Hungerford Swap Shop will be held on Saturday 3rd February 2018, at The Croft Hall, Hungerford. The swap shop will run from 11:30 – 13:30pm and items can be dropped off from 10:30am.

What is a Swap Shop?

It’s a bit like a jumble sale but no money changes hands. You can donate household items that you no longer need and/or come along and take things away that you would like yourself. The idea is to encourage us to recycle and not to put things in the bin or take them to the tip. Anything not rehomed on the day will be donated to the Community Furniture Project, a fantastic local charity.

We’re looking for volunteers to help out for a couple of hours on the day. If you can support this popular event please email: heat_hungerford.yahoo.com

Here’s what people said about previous events:

“Brilliant, love it” Leza Ali

“Brings communities together and they communicate with each other, instead of on the computer. I’ve spoken to people here I hardly know and I’ve lived in Hungerford for years” Terry McDonald
“Excellent idea to swap things. Especially for people who don’t have a lot and they don’t need to feel embarrassed about taking things away. We’re a throw away society  and we waste so much good quality stuff” Louise Harrison
“The Hungerford swap shop seems to be going from strength to strength regarding the increasing numbers of people attending” Joe McKay, The Community Furniture Project
Many thanks to The Community Furniture Project (www.cfpnewbury.org) for providing the electrical PAT testing. CFP is a local charity which supplies house-hold items to those in need, pensioners and all those on a low income. CFP collects free of charge from anywhere in West Berkshire and took away 642kg worth of items remaining from this event.
